Have emptied all their fountains in my well,

Loot boxes have been on the tips of all gamers' tongues at some point over the last couple of months, and Apple has adjusted its own App Store guidelines for the better. Since EA came under fire earlier this year with Star Wars: Battlefront II, loot boxes have been very much frowned upon for the simple fact that the odds tend not to be in the buyer's favour. Though, this was console so didn't affect the mobile world much, right? Wrong.

When these loot box-like products called Ultimate Hero Chests arrived in Marvel Future Fight, the community was having none of it. IAPs certainly aren't uncommon, but offering up some of the game's strongest characters in these boxes is another thing.

One of the interesting things I noted back when we covered this topic earlier this month is that rather than being able to buy a character outright, the Ultimate Hero Chest is a total gamble. You could get your desired hero in the first swing, or you could spend £1,000 on chests and still not get it.

Though it's only a small step in the right direction, Apple's updated App Store guidelines in section 3.1.1 states: "Apps offering “loot boxes” or other mechanisms that provide randomized virtual items for purchase must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase."

Whether this'll make developers less likely to include such things in their games, we can't be sure, but it does at least show that it's not something that'll just be ignored in the grand scheme of things.

(This article was originally published on our sister site PocketGamer.biz)

The Global VR Challenge is fast approaching, and the entries are piling in. However, this may be a little too soon for those developers that are not quite ready to enter.

So, if you're one of those developers, then we've got some good news! That's because, in order to allow more developers to enter the Global VR Challenge, Steel Media have extended the deadline for entries.

As such, developers now have until midnight on Monday 20th June to submit their VR concepts / games.

Still unsure whether you qualify? Well, it's actually quite simple:
This competition is open to all independent developers.Submitted games must be either a new concept or original idea that is currently unreleased, or a VR title released in the last 6 months which hasn’t been published in the Chinese market.Entries must be suitable for either mobile or PC-based VR.Those shortlisted for the final stage in China will be required to submit their game for judging on relevant DeePoon hardware (hardware and support will be provided by DeePoon).Entries will need to have at least one member of their team with a valid passport and able to travel to China on July 25th – 30th.
A complete set of rules can be found at the following link.

In order to enter, developers must submit a description of their game / concept, along with any assets available, via the Global VR Gaming Challenge website.

Of course, to make sure that nobody is at a disadvantage, anyone who has already submitted, will be able to update their entry by resubmitting at any point up until this new deadline.

That's not all though, as with this new deadline we can also announce that this will then be followed by the first stage of judging on Friday 24th June.

All in all, with some of the hottest VR concepts already submitted, alongside $35,000 in cash alongside a trip to China and VR hardware on offer, the Global VR Challenge is certainly looking set to be one of the most exciting events in this year's VR calendar.

"Well, if you won't accept Tennyson as an authority, perhaps you will believe the words of a Greater than he," said Gilbert seriously. "`Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.' I believe that, Anne, with all my heart. It's the greatest and grandest verse in the Bible--or in any literature--and the TRUEST, if there are comparative degrees of trueness. And it's the first duty of a man to tell the truth, as he sees it and believes it."TWO SOLDIERS traveling together were set upon by a Robber. The one fled away; the other stood his ground and defended himself with his stout right hand. The Robber being slain, the timid companion ran up and drew his sword, and then, throwing back his traveling cloak said, "I'll at him, and I'll take care he shall learn whom he has attacked." On this, he who had fought with the Robber made answer, "I only wish that you had helped me just now, even if it had been only with those words, for I should have been the more encouraged, believing them to be true; but now put up your sword in its sheath and hold your equally useless tongue, till you can deceive others who do not know you. I, indeed, who have experienced with what speed you run away, know right well that no dependence can be placed on your valor."
